After a little over two weeks of hanging on by a thread, Lily FINALLY lost her top tooth. She has asked that I put a good word in with the tooth fairy and hinted at M&M's. I think that's entirely doable.

The Return of Alejandro

Casey and I switched vehicles back. Basically, it was my fear of having to put the top up in rain today that made me say "Hey, you've only got a week in Shipshewana left, why don't we switch back." Casey, very much missing his Jeep and tired of my threats to trade it in for a more fuel economical Toyota Rav4, was more than willing to "fall" for my manipulations. Now, all I gotta do is clean Alejandro out, give it a good vacuuming and it's all good.

This weekend was fairly uneventful. Friday we went and saw X 3: The Last Stand with Carrie. I turned my brain off and enjoyed it. I think Beast (played by Kelsey Grammar...absolutely brilliant) was excellent, brilliant and all those other wonderful compliments. He was my favorite in this movie. When he said "Oh my stars and garters!" Carrie, Casey and I clapped loudly. I have to admit, I was waiting through the whole movie for that one.

Saturday I can't remember what we did. I think it involved barn building, though. Well, Casey built the barn and I think I was at home for most of the day. Like I said, uneventful. Sunday we went over to Casey's parents around 12:30 (after sleeping in until 11:30) and hung out there until we had to go to my mom's at 3:30. My stomach was doing the whole "I don't like you and shall threaten you by rumbling mercilessly!" thing. Sunday wasn't a very fun day and it was hot to boot. Lily and I did run through the sprinklers at my mom's house for a bit, though. Oh, and Casey brought Ronin and we ran him for a bit. We're going to take Jayne out for some quality time sometime this week, too.

The only other thing that is currently going on is the whole 11 days till my birthday thing. I haven't really celebrated my birthday in a couple of years now, so while I may be counting down the days I'm not expecting anything spectacular. Same old, same old.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I've got to make myself a new disc for Alejandro.

Gettin' girlied up

Um, I'm wearing a dress today. Now, this could change seeing as how the temperature outside is kinda chilly, but right now I'm wearing a dress and that's the important thing.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to go put on my makeup.

Bye Bye Dish! (YOU SUCK!!)

This morning I called and got rid of our satellite. They were going to charge us the cancellation fee as well, but I told them "Um, no. You're not. " The thing should never have been installed in the first place. Granted, we didn't have problems until we got some foliage and then the problems began. Oh well, $40 saved. That's a good thing.

IN other news, this morning while Lily and I were having our usual breakfast of cheerios and watching PBS kid programming, I saw a small, white fuzzy thing out of the corner of my eye. I figured it was just a piece of fuzz from the pillows (our dogs chewed up the corners and we've got the filling spilling out). Imagine my surprise when I went to grab it and IT MOVED!!! I have a mouse.

I promptly composed myself, walked into the other room and called Casey, trying not to let Lily know...

Casey: "Hello?"
Jess: "M-O-U-S-E!!!!"
Casey: "Huh?"
Jess: "M-O-U-S-E! In the l-i-v-i-n-g room!"
Casey: "Kill it."
Jess: "I'm not going to go kill a mouse! But I let Bonzai in..."
Lily: "Mouse?! Did you say Mouse mommy? Where? Can I see it? Can we keep it?"

After I dropped Lily off, I went and picked up a few mouse traps, baited them with peanut butter (as per my dad's suggestion) and now, we wait. I hope to god it doesn't go off until Casey gets home, but at the same time I SOOOOOO don't want it wandering around the house. I'm getting the willies just thinking about it. Not only that, but it was all white and kinda cute...yet, the ickiness factor is just unbearable. Eww Eww Eww.

They really DO have everything on Amazon.com!

On my birthday list I put that I wanted a mannequin to practice my cutting/styling skills on. I figured if Sally's had 'em, so would the internet and they'd probably be less expensive to boot. Well, the less expensive part not so much (the one to the left here is $10 more than at Sally's), but a google search let me to find this mannequin on AMAZON!!! They really do have everything on Amazon!

In case you were wondering...

Okay all... Less than 20 days to my birthday (18 to be precise) and I have decided to blog my list of birthday hints. You can all get together and coordinate as need be. Here's my list of top wants (and then some for those of you who don't want to go with top wants): (OH and I'm sorry for the lack of pictures. Blogger was having issues uploading pics. I got a nice one of the Party Girl DVD though.)

1) Charmed Season 5. It comes out on June 6th. Great big duh for anyone who knows me. The series finale was on Sunday. The last two episodes were fabulous and I'm sad that it won't be on anymore, but 8 seasons is a good run so I'm not complaining.

2) Party Girl DVD. Now, this would be the Parker Posey 1995 movie, not the 1930's "Party Girl" that I have never seen. This is one of my all time favorite movie and oddly enough had nothing to do with me getting a job in the library back in college. I actually got the job then saw the movie. I have it on video but have watched it so many times that it's pretty worn out. Not only that, but our VCR has a tendancy to eat video tapes now, so I haven't watched it in a while. So, you could buy me the DVD for my birthday and know that I'll watch it over and over again!

3) These shoes. You can find them on lovemyshoes.com They're so cute! Things you may not know about me: I'm a shoe-a-holic. In my hayday of shoe buying, I managed to have about thirty pairs of shoes. I still have half of those, although most don't fit (feet and the nose are apparently the only things that continue growing throughout your life apparently). I currently cycle through 5 pairs of shoes, the last pair which rotates depending on season. Those shoes are: my sketchers (which I've had since I was 19 and purchased during my work stint at Eddie Bauer. They're comfy and just today I noticed that one of the treads has a rather large hole in it, but nothing that needs to be replaced at this point in time). Pair number two: my pink and black Sugar Shoes which I bought for roughly $7 at Hot Topic. These are my favorite pair to run around in. Unfortunately, they are a bit small. Pair number three: My Docs. Nuff said. Pair number 4: My new balance tennis shoes. These definitely need to be replaced as they are literally falling apart at the seems. I consider these "work" shoes. I wear these whenever I'm feeling quite lazy about my appearance or will be walking around in public for an extended period of time. They are quite comfy but should not be worn in the rain due to the ripping apart at the seems bit. Pair five is my "rotating" pair. In the winter, pair five consist of my winter boots. Not comfy, but it keeps the feet warm and dry so I deal. Summertime (meaning in the next couple of weeks) signals the bringing out of the lime green platform flip flops. These were an awesome find on my mom's part. She brought them from Panama along with a really tacky shirt that matched them. I find myself wearing the flip flips more than the shirt, though.

I have several other pairs of sandals that I rotate into my summer wear as well, but those are the main shoes. Hense, why shoes are on my birthday list.

4) The book "Angels and Demons" by Dan Brown. I read the Da Vinci code and loved it and have been wanting to read "Angels and Demons" for a while. Note: get it in paperback if you want to get it for me. It can be found for $6 at Meijers.

5) SeaQuest DSV season 1. Loved the show.

6) Sliders Season 3 & 4.

7) A couple of practice mannequin heads from Salley's Beauty Supply so I can practice hair cuts without killing my current mannequins. I found out they're not too expensive (roughly $30 a pop, I was expecting somewhere in the vicinity of $100 per head).

8) "Making Faces" by Kevin Aucoin. Kevin Aucoin is a celebrity makeup artist and this is supposed to be a wonderful book to learn how to do those wonderful celebrity makeup jobs. I would not only benefit as far as school is concerned, but I would also benefit in daily life. Wouldn't it be nice to know how to do your own makeup so it looks completely flawless?

Now, my husband keeps telling me that there is no money in being a stylist for television or theatre, but I really like the creative outlet there. Whether I would be creating a soft, southern belle type look or a crazy alien hotty... that sounds really fun to me! I'm thinking of talking to someone at the Morris and seeing if I can sit in on like stage preparations or something one night just to see what all it entails.

9) "Getting it Right." The Milady's Standard Costmetology student guide. Another school related book. Yes, I want school stuff. I am indeed crazy.

OH and if anyone wants to get me something else that's school related, they can get me a new backpack.

So yeah, that's my list thus far. Go forth and buy me stuff. You know you want to. ;-)

How do you feel?

Today I feel grumpy and frustrated. I feel like everything is piling up and I also feel as if I have no control over it. I also feel like I got very little sleep and I have had a raging headache since I woke up (yes, I took some tylenol, but it does not seem to be working) and I'm incredibly annoyed at the world.

I couldn't find the car keys, and low and behold an hour after the fact I find them sitting here in the computer room. Um, it is very rare that I play on the computer on Sundays. Usually because Casey is playing on the computer.

To top everything off, the last episode of Charmed is on this evening and I am rather depressed at the lack of good tv anymore. Even though I think this past season of Charmed has been rather lackluster. The last two episodes, though, have been pretty good.

ANYWHO... Yeah, I'm going to go clean my floors (aka the never ending battle) and do some more laundry. Then, I will continue with my grumpy moping about the house and wait for Casey to get home.

Quick update & Pet Peeve of the day

Really quick because I'm on a cleaning kick. I will go more in depth later.

Casey's birthday was on the 15th. We did the whole birthday thing on Friday evening with my dad, Mickie and Jason (Casey's parents weren't feeling well, so they begged off. No biggie.). The "sparky vegitables" arrived on the 15th as planned. It was a big hit. Sparky vegitables = movie theatre popcorn popper. We now have movie theatre popcorn at home which is just freakin' awesome.

Very nasty test this week at school on Anatomy and physiology. Julie was nice enough to give me homework since Lily was sick yesterday. Not that I've done any of it yet, but will get to it this afternoon hopefully. Easy chapter this time and we're still working on those evil perm things. I'm hoping and praying that they never come back in style.

Pet Peeve of the day: Satellite guy showed up as I was leaving for school this morning. So, I have been home watching him do stuff. He was supposed to move the dish to the front yard (and I quote "why the hell did they put it there? They could have put it in the front!" which is what I've been wondering all along thank you very much) but needed a certain tool for the hookups and had to go purchase it. He left around 10AM and has yet to return. It is now 11:46. I called Dish and they said they didn't know why he hasn't come back yet. Jess is not a happy camper and I proceeded to yell at the poor guy on the phone about me having class and how the appointment wasn't supposed to happen until after 1PM anyway and what the hell was going on that they were so poorly organized. It didn't get me anywhere, but it sure did make me feel better. They promised me a phone call from the manager of local branch and it hasn't happened yet. I'm very much ready to verbally kick some ass. If he wasn't going to come back, then he should have told me "hey, I'm not really going to go get a tool, I'm going to go and not come back."

My time is money spent on my education, thank you very much, and I'd prefer not to waste that time. I'm kicking myself for not going to class and I'm very pissed at Dish for doing this.

So yeah. Now, I must eat some lunch and continue being productive.

Cooking with Jess!

Hello! And welcome to cooking with Jess! Today, we will be making the following items for Casey's birthday dinner:

Fried Chicken
Green Bean Casserole
Mashed Potatoes (from scratch)
Gravy (also from scratch)
German Chocolate Cake (not from scratch)

Feel free to ask how the hell am I going to make fried chicken because I haven't figured that one out yet. I will, however, be attempting it and I hope that it turns out yummy because Casey's parents are coming for dinner, too, and well... yeah, I want to make a good impression.

I will also be making some patacones (Panamanian style fried plantain) and empanadas as appetizers. Tasty. Although, somehow I'm thinking the patacones are going to be gone before everyone gets here. Hee hee.

Happy Birthday Sweet Baboo!

It is my sweet baboo's birthday! Everyone say Happy Birthday! to my sweet baboo (whom is currently venting under his breath "I am NOT your sweet baboo!!" although I'm sure my mother still secretely wishes that he was my sweet baboo but sorry mom, it ain't gonna happen...refer to that happily married bit and the fact the sweet baboo has a steady boyfriend thing, 'kay? Kay)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!! You're old(er than me) and stuff! I love you anyway! And I truly hope that southplain's gonna take you out and has something special planned...and stuff.

This week has been busy and when I have not been busy I have been sneezing and suffering from pretty bad allergies (hense the sleepiness). I did, however, manage to finally upload pictures onto the computer! Now, if only I can get them emailed to the people they need to go to then I'm on the right track. Let's see... I'll start with the fun stuff.

Last week at school we did pretty much nothing. Well, I say nothing although I did learn a few new tricks and I got my "senior" books. No, I'm not a senior quite yet, but the books came in and I got them, so I am happy. Last week we were doing old fashioned hair styles like barrel rolls, french twists (both a classic and simplified version), and something that is called straw sets. Fun stuff. On Wednesday, we had a dress up day when we got to come to class dressed from another time period. First I wanted to go as a flapper, but didn't want to spend $40 on a costume (even though I'd probably wear it again), so then I started looking around for a 1940's-esque type outfit (seemed stockings, slim fitting skirt, blouse) but no luck in finding anything I liked. So, I decided to use what I have... This time it turned out to be jewlery from India. I got a scarf to accent the necklace, tikka and earrings and wha-la! I was pretty! I cannot begin to count the number of compliments that I recieved from not only everyone at school but on the street as well. I went to Lula's Cafe after school to grab what they call an Amalfi (italian soda with cream... I like the strawberry and vanilla in it for my two flavor shots) and several of the people in there thought the look was awesome as well.

The same cannot be said for some of the parents at Lily's school, though. There are a small group of latin america women that looked at me like I was wearing a lobster. One of the other mom's, Mariah, however, thought I looked awesome and promptly asked me where I got the jewlery. The latin american women called me "gringa loca." Translated: Crazy white girl.

Oh well. I was pretty and it made me feel very feminine. Unfortunately, shortly after I picked up Lily I had to take off the stuff because my hair was pulled back so tight I was starting to get a headache. It was fun while it lasted, though.

This week begins preparations for Casey's birthday (which is next monday). I gave him the hint "sparky vegitables." For anyone who knows what I got him, that is definitely a good hint. Sparky he got as something electric, but he's stuck on the vegitables part. I can't help but giggle about that one. I'll definitely be making a german chocolate cake and then whatever else he wants. I'll keep you posted about the menu.

I'll be posting more later as we're going to go see puppies today. Puppies are cute. No, I really don't want one. Other than that we haven't been up to much. Yesterday we went to Buymetoys.com for free comic book day and Lily and I both came home with five free comics each. Hers included some Archie comics, Disney Donald Duck stuff, and a Simpson's comic book. Mine included a couple of X-Men books, something from Image comics and something from this company called Viper comics (which I only picked up cuz the chick on the cover was cute). After that, we went to Ritters Frozen Custard who was having a free scoop day and got ice cream. It was a fun and most importantly FREE day. Well, with the exception of the gas it took to drive everywhere. But it was fun, and that was the most important part. I think while looking at puppies, we'll try and sneak in some kite flying (if the wind helps us out, that is) or possibly some tree climbing. We'll definitely have fun, though. Pictures to come!

Snoooooooooooze please?

It is 7:12 AM. I woke up this morning at 6:45, immediately praying to the snooze gods. For some reason I am overly tired this morning. Would someone like to contribute a red bull to the cause? Please and thank you!

My Evil Plan Backfired...

Yesterday, when I was putting Spice Girls stuff on Casey's IPod, I forgot to take into consideration that I am the one that will be driving the Jeep (aka Slutgirl? I think that's her name...) for the next few weeks. Why? Well, my wonderful husband is taking Alejandro (the Neon) so he gets better gas mileage on the 1+ hour drive he has to get to work.

Yeah... that whole evil plan thing backfired. Oh well, at least I have Gorillaz on there too.

Question of the day: Purple streaks or Red streaks??
