Let the penny pinching begin...

We got a bill from the lab that did my ob panel (aka those blood tests that you have to have when you first go to the ob/gyn). The lab took 4 vials of blood to test. The bill was for $160. That means each vial was $40. According to the lab technician, 50 of these small vials would equal one pint of blood. That means that for one pint of blood, applying the $40 per vial cost of testing, it would cost a total of $2000 to test.

Does anyone else find this a bit excessive?

Thankfully, our insurance covers lab work and we don't have to pay for it, but still... I would hate to be pregnant and NOT have insurance.
