Banned!

Yesterday Ronin decided to dig up something that looked like it had once been a possum and decided to ingest some of it. EWWWWW!!!! I can understand doggy nature to a certain extent but no dog is going to come in our house reaking like something long dead. So, about 8:30 last night, Casey still feeling like poo, we gave Ronin a bath (after we go and look for the dead thing, which be double bagged and through in our trash can to be collected). Ronin came out smelling like an oatmeal cookie.
This evening, Casey still feels like poo, it's closer to 9:30 and well... Ronin is banned from the house until we can give him a bath tomorrow.   We looked outside to see if we could find any remnents of dead things in the back yard, but we didn't find anything.  I'm thinking I'll go outside tomorrow with a shovel and maybe turn the earth where we found ye olde dead thing.
I am REALLY glad that it's going to be warm tomorrow because I'm going to be hosing him off outside, this time.
Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm off to kick my husband into bed.

La La La La La

Because Tuesday doesn't seem much better...

I woke up this morning to find Casey home, too.  He has (and I quote) "the sore throat from hell."

Looks like the entire family gets to stay home today.  Although, I have a sneaky suspicion that if that government rebate shows up we'll be heading off to Chicago to purchase an IMac.

Frakkity frak frak frak! Or How Monday's are NOT supposed to go...

I picked Lily up from school today and as she gets into the car she tells me "Mom, my stomach hurts.  I have a bunch of owies on it."   Since she's getting in the car, I can't necessarily check her first thing so we wait until we get home.    Home we go and as soon as she gets out of the car, she lifts up her shirt and says "See!  They kinda hurt."  Her stomach up to her armpits had dozens of little bumps on them.   Little bumps that look oddly like chicken pox.

This is the part where I begin to think "How the hell?!"  It looked bad enough for me to call the doctor, so that's what I did and hadn't been home more than 5 minutes when we turned around and got back in the car and off we went.

Turns out that it's not chicken pox.  Which I was wondering how the heck she could possibly even get chicken pox because she has not only had the original vaccine but the booster as well.  The doctor looked down her throat and in her ears, looked at Lily and said "Does you ear hurt Lily?"  She said no and then he looked in her ears again.  It turns out that she has the beginning of an ear infection.  According to the doc, you can get a rash along with an ear infection but it is very very rare.  Lily gets to stay home from school tomorrow and take some antibiotics.

While we were there I also had the doctor look at Jackson's eye.  It's been gunking up the past few days with what I thought were allergies.  Turns out I was wrong about this too.  Little Mr. Man could very possibly have pink eye!  So, he got some eye drops.  Yeah, it has not been a fun day at Casa Stone.  I'm definitely not liking this Monday.  At least this evening there is a new episode of house and Casey and I can catch up on season four of Battlestar Galactica before that comes on.

FRAK!!!

The past few weeks Casey and I have been plowing our way through the first three seasons of the re-imagined Battlestar Galactica series.  We've been watching between 3 and 4 episodes a night and thuroughly enjoying it.

Unfortunately for me, I know what's going on in the series and after tonight hubby will b
e caught up.  It's been frakking hell not being able to tell him about what's up and all of the theories that I have about the final cylon that needs to be revealed.  There were a handful of episodes in season three that I hadn't seen, but I am now caught up and in roughly 45 minutes Casey will be caught up as well.  I think the final four have just clicked in his head because he hasn't said anything about how crazy Colonel Tigh is acting.    AND since we are both desperately going to try and convince my sister-in-law and her hubby to watch the series as well, I am bound to secrecy yet again.

I am looking forward to starting season 4 tomorrow night.

I have to admit going into the series that I was a die hard fan of the Galactica of my youth.  When I heard Starbuck was a girl I was like "Um, no. Starbuck is NOT a girl."  But then
, within the first half hour of the miniseries  (which you really must start with the miniseries and then go to season one and the subsequent seasons) I was completely in love with Katee Sackhoff's portrayal of the frakked up Starbuck and was proclaiming that I wanted to be Starbuck when I grow up (which doesn't make much sense if you think about it because Katee Sackhoff, according to IMDB.com, was born in 1980, two years after me... ah, to be able to turn back the clock... or to put off being born a couple of years so I could still grow up to be Starbuck.  There is always time, however, for me to grow up... I'm not 30 yet, so I still have time to do something stupid...maybe.).

So yeah, I'm a Battlestar Galactica junkie.  I can't wait to start season four and FINALLY I'll be able to talk to hubby about it.

OH and if anyone is looking for birthday presents for me or Casey... Here's a couple of hints:  Season One of BSG, Battlestar Galactica "Razor", the mini-series, and for (more specifically) me an Ebony colored Kawasaki Ninja 250R.  Now, go shopping.  And, if you get me the ninja, make sure you get a helmet to go with it.  Thanks!

Lily-ism

Lily: "Why do I have to go to bed so early?"
Me: "You have to get up early for school."
Lily: "But why do I have to get up early?"
Me: "Well, you know how daddy get's up early to go to work? You have to get up early to go to school.  That's your job."
Lily: "Dude," [pulls covers over her shoulders] "I want a new job."

Yeah, I giggled for about an hour after that.

"I wonder what would happen if we made their teeth come in FOUR at a time?"

Jackson has four teeth coming in.  All on the top.  The first two cut through a couple of days ago.  They're barely out, but wait! As if nature didn't have anything better to do (YO! IT'S SPRING! GO MAKE SOME BUNNIES MATE OR SOMETHING!), two more teeth adjacent to both top (right and left sides) have decided that it was time for them to come through too!

Now, it's not soooo horrible (says the one who finally got a full five hours of sleep last night and didn't have to get up every hour and a half with the kid).  With the two center ones (upper left and right central for y'all who want to get your dental-geek on) partially erupted (haha, dental-geek) the upper left lateral is just starting to peak through (I can see a decent sized "white spot") and the upper right lateral has a smaller "white spot" where it's going to erupt but yep, they're there.  Jackson is definitely a fan of the baby anbesol and so am I!  His mood can change incredibly rapidly if it starts to wear off.   The kid just turned 7 months.  Those lateral teeth apparently aren't supposed to come in until around 9 months.

I think I'm going to agree with Casey and say that he's in a hurry to do everything.   His current favorite thing to do?  Dive-bomb stuff that's just out of his reach.  It's like if he flings himself toward something he'll be able to reach it.  While I wait with anticipation for him to start crawling, it also makes me V E R Y nervous.

Casey's birthday presents will be ordered this week.  I've decided that 30 is going to be a fun birthday to spoil him with some stuff with.   I've given him the clues "flour" and "moo" for a couple of his presents.  He's still scratching his head.  If anyone has any guesses, feel free to comment and I'll tell you yay or nay.   Just keep in mind that when I gave him his popcorn popper, I gave him the hint "sparky vegitables."  Yes, I know corn is a grain, but you use vegitable oil to pop it so yeah... it works.  Think obscurely. Hee hee.

I'm off.  Must make dinner.

Grumpy Grumpy Grumpy

Jackson is cutting his two top front teeth.  Poor little man.  This weekend has not been a fun one for not only for him but it's been hell on the rest of the family as well.  He has been waking up about every two and a half hours at night crying and it's really reeking havoc on my sleep schedule.  Jack, however, seems to be dealing just fine.  Well, except for the occasional screaming and grumpiness.

Casey is officially addicted to Battlestar Galactica.  We bought season 2.0 and 2.5 and have 6 episodes to go before we have to buy season 3.  We are also going to be in the market for Season 1, the miniseries, and Razor, so yeah.... plenty to watch before the return of House next week.   I have been watching bits and pieces of season 4 of BSG and part of me is tempted just to stop.  Friday's episode... I knew what was coming but didn't believe it when it actually happened.  I think I said "frak" non-stop for about an hour.  My brain hurt after that episode.  I also cried pretty good.

And stuff.

Other than that, this is the first weekend we haven't had much going on.  It was nice to decompress.  The nice weather was awesome as well.  Unfortunately, this is the start of things getting busy.  Lily has roughly 6 weeks of school left and then the wonderful summer camp season begins.  Between zoo camp, swimming lessons, library summer reading program, a nature day camp and a few other things... yeah, she's going to be a busy kid.

So that's that. We've been quite boring lately.

ARGGGG!!!!

I was going to blog about how my pants split in the middle of Hollywood video this afternoon and how I have to buy new pants but my computer keeps deleting stuff that I type.  So yeah.  I'm not going to anymore.  Bugger you, HP!

Meme I stole from Matt

I am not a tagger, but knock yourselves out if it's your kind of thing. .

1. If you were another person, would you be friends with you? Probably. I think I'm quite fun when I'm in the mood to have fun.

2. What is your most guilty pleasure? Hmmm... watching Nip/Tuck? Either that or brownies.

3. When was the last time you laughed so hard you cried? A couple of weeks ago when Mickie and I were driving in the car and she said something really hilarious. I almost spewed, too.

4. Are you confused as to what lies ahead of you? Nope. I like the road I'm on and while there will be obstacles, bumps and bad hair days ahead I am definitely not confused.

5. What's your favorite book to re-read? Hmmm... that's a tough call. Currently that would be the book Nefertiti. I re-read a lot of books and enjoy a lot of them, so yeah...

6. Have you ever been awake for 48 hours straight? Yeah, but I think I was a teenager. It was fun, but I slept for something like 19 hours straight afterwards.

7. Favorite physical feature of the opposite sex? I would have to say it's that sexy "v" line on a man just under his abs that kinda points the way down to certain naughty bits. If a man has a well defined "v" I tend to drool heavily. It he's wearing a shirt, I tend to look at the eyes.

8. Is there anything that made you unhappy recently? No, but I'm waiting for the other shoe to drop.

9. Name a personal hero. You know, I don't really think I have one. I guess if I had to choose, I'd choose my mom because she's incredibly tough and strong and kicks ass.

10. You have 50 dollars in your pocket what do you do with it? Probably save it and go out for ice cream tomorrow. Either that or buy Season One of BSG

11. What is your drug of choice? I would have to say NyQuil.

12. If you could keep any animal for a pet, what would you keep? I have always wanted to have a peregrin falcon. Birds of Prey are cool.

13. What is your favorite keychain on your keys? I would have to say my ankh keychain that I got from the Field Museum in Chicago last year.

14. Do you have a motto? Not particularly.

15. Grab the book nearest to you, turn to page 55, and find line 5. Okay, the book is "Fix it and Forget it" and it's a crock pot recipe book. Page 55 is Sally's Split Pea Soup and line 5 says "Makes 8 Servings."

Yeah, this was kinda dull. At least my neighbor brought me some cupcakes.

...ZZZZZZZZZZ

I feel like I am in need of a nap. I've actually felt this way since I woke up this morning. I just haven't been able to get the hang of the day for some reason. I've got a running list in my head of things that I need to do and I just find myself looking from one end of the room to the other asking the question "What was I doing again?" I think the truck that ran me over is parked somewhere around here... I failed to get it's license plate or model, though.

Yeah, I am definitely tired. I have dubbed this evening pizza night and threw a pizza in the oven. I will continue doing the whole laundry thing and I'll probably just hang out, watch some Battlestar Galactica and hopefully go to sleep early. Yep, that's the plan.

What's a bedtime?

This weekend has been all about the fun for us here at Casa Stone. Matt came in Thursday, albeit not for fun, but we had a good visit and distracted him with lots and lots of Rock Band. Matt, the kids and I had a late dinner with his mom. They got good news so all was well and lots of stress was lifted on their end of things. Friday I had planned to drive to Indy and pick up Trevor but had baby issues and convinced Trevor that he should drive our way.

And so this brings us to Friday evening!!! Party at our house! Whoo hoo! Trevor arrived around 5:30 (I was out dropping off Lily and picking up supplies...like Guitar Hero 3 so we'd have a second guitar to use and could rock with a full band) and then Mickie and family got their around 6:30, everyone else started arriving around 7PM. We ate burgers despite it getting colder and colder as the evening progressed and then... Rock Band! It was our first time that we had a REAL Rock Band party and we have ABSOLUTELY got to do it again!!

We rocked out until the wee hours of the evening and then after everyone left we watched a very interesting film that Trevor brought called Careful. It was an odd Canadian film that had so many interesting undertones that I can't even begin to explain it. Interesting, definitely art house.

Today we've been hanging out talking about movies, watching movies, just hanging out. It's been really quite nice. More Rock Band was played, but we've kind of rock band-ed out. That happens, though.

Tomorrow I have no idea what's going on. It's the last day of spring break so we'll probably stay home and relax.

I'm off. Jackson is having issues getting to sleep so I'm going to try and get him to sleep by laying down with him.

Yucky.

My hubby had to leave at 4AM this morning to be in Fort Wayne by 7AM. This gave him and the two other guys that were going to the pervious concrete symposium thingey at least an hour of getting lost time. Hubby also took the MacBook, which means I'm kickin' it old school on the HP today. Whee fun, ya know?

It's raining, it's cold, and I feel... grumpy. A bout of PMS is heading my way, I just know it. This weather also has me feel like doing absolutely nothing.

Matt is coming in for an impromptu family thing today. Basically, the mama bear beckons and all the youngins come a runnin'. It's a bad kind of family thing so it's not my thing to divulge it. My thoughts are with them, though. And, on a selfish level, I get to see my sweet baboo. I wish Ben was coming with him, but it's all good. I'll get to see Ben this summer. We're already planning a trip to Cedar Point, so it should be fun. I think it will be a perfectly appropriate way to celebrate our 30th birthdays (Matt is May 8, Casey is the 15th and mine is June 10).

I miss Casey. I miss the MacBook. I miss the sun. I miss it being warm. Yeah, color me depressed. I will now go throw myself onto a pile of laundry and be melancholy.

This and That

This weekend turned out to be absolutely BEAUTIFUL!  Saturday we went to the Stone parents', had tasty spaghetti and Lily got to play with her cousins, Juliette and Ilsa.  Around 8:30 though you could tell that the girls were getting tired as the level of bickering increased.  We finally decided that it was time to take Lily home and let the girls get some sleep.

Jackson enjoyed some grandma time and impressed us all by eatting an entire jar of baby food.  That was a first for him.  He normally eats half a jar per sitting if we're lucky but this time he must have either really really liked the applesauce he ate or he was just really really hungry.

Lily is on spring break this week.  Today we're just kind of taking it easy doing the whole sleeping in thing.  We're contemplating grilling out this evening because it's still very beautiful outside.  Casey is working just up the road so he'll be home relatively early in the scheme of things.

I'm off.  I've got the spring fever bug and there's lots of cleaning to be done.
